About

Hello! Thanks for stopping by. Like hundreds of Indians each year, my family & I are moving back to India after having lived in the US for a decade or more. I’m right in the middle of the migrating season now! And like many of my fellow migrating birds – am excited, scared, confused, overwhelmed, anxious and many more things. This blog will hopefully be a little informative, a little dramatic, a bit helpful or just silly and entertaining if nothing else … and more than anything else, will last at least 2 years through our transition!

  1. Hi – thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on my posts πŸ™‚ I am back after half a decade in the promised land so I can understand what you must be going through – in fact its probably more complicated. Good Luck with your transition! Lovely blog – will keep checking what you have to say πŸ™‚

  2. Thanks SRS πŸ™‚ I’m trying to stay from drowning in all this here .. and hopefully your books will help.

  3. You are very brave to do r2i, I understand you are a wonderful prolem solver too ,I see you are working in an MNC .So you will survive & find contentment .
I am neither a good prolem solver nor do I have tolerance for bad health care nor was I smart enough to find a good dr in B’lore .Born n brought up in B’lore India πŸ™‚
We want to sell our home in chennai which we bought thinking we will R2I but 3 misery filled vacays …we are desperately trying to sell :)))))
Right now san diego ,CA .Have a 6 yr old girl

    • Thanks Asha πŸ™‚ Kind words. I think the verdict is out on brave vs. foolish. We’ll know soon enough I guess. But whichever one of those it becomes, hopefully we will come out of it much stronger as a family. That’s the least I can hope for. And oh – how I would die to be in San Diego now πŸ™‚ Something about the grass being greener on the other side I suppose! And there’s never a good reason or time to R2I, there’s always an argument to stay back .. you just pick up and leave if you want to. I personally think it’s the only way to do it. Good luck .. I hope you manage to sell your place in Chennai.

Funny enough though, we might be apartment hunting in Chennai soon. So ping me at crunchatwordpress@gmail.com if you are interested in letting me know about the place. I have a ton of people looking. πŸ™‚

  4. I think you will find contentment ..see smart people always find solutions ,you are that .I am not saying simply .
Me I could not .Low tolerance levels ,unable to think of solutions or alternatives .You can .I got married and moved here after marriage after reading blogs like mad momma etc but when my daughter got viral fever or fifth disease one of those , the drs said Dengue asked me to admit her in THE MOST expensive hospital in B’lore then a simple bruise was made into a hairline fracture apparently drs get commision for xrays etc .It was 2 much for me .By the time I figured out a good dr..thankfully my vacay was over .
Fear of getting mosquito bite , stomach upsets when my daughter ate even from sweet chariot ..I am done
If hubby had been there he would have reduced half the stress ,my parents were no use .Neighbours I did not like , intially they were trying to place me in some strata of society but later they figured I was not status oriented and conversations became casual BUT all were desperate to move to USA .
I met hypocrites ,pessimists , put-downers,Joneses,dream crushers , one lady a former tenant in my home said that I would not be able to afford to enroll my daughter in Bishop cottons my alma mater ,I was shell shocked !!They even decide how much cash we have ,it offended me when I told it was my dream to see her in my school
How do they even talk like this ??
Here even the lady threads my eyebrows is polite .
ALL THE ABOVE WAS BECAUSE i AM NOT A PROBLEM SOLVER ..but I was good at math ,funny huh πŸ™‚
my hubby would have found solutions to all … but he gets upset stomach every time he eats outside .
You can do it you are smart your hubby is smart ..you’ll figure out your path working it out .one day at a time is what worked for me during every crisis .
you can find heaven anywhere ,you are smart πŸ™‚

I love that pic too … It’s a picture of my parents front yard in their village! Looking at it once a day reminds me that it’s all going to be fine!! πŸ™‚ calming effect.

  8. Hello stranger!
I stumbled upon ur blog when i was looking at the blogs related to R2I and have been following ur blog for a while now but never commented anything about how wonderful of a writer u are! Anyways what made me comment today is related to ur disappearance from the blog! It’s been a while since u posted on the blog ! I hope everything is going good with u and ur family πŸ™‚ .

    • Hey there Bhavna! Really sweet of you to drop that note. Let’s just say life is probably settling πŸ˜€ Lots of people warned me of fading away from the blog once life starts to settles down and that’s precisely what happened. And at least 4 people have pinged me prodding me to haul my behind back here πŸ™‚ I have 4 incomplete drafts waiting to be written up and I’ll get on here ASAP. I miss being here as well. Stay in touch!
